Teeth Whitening in Surrey
We all love to have a great smile right? This patient did, and here is a genuine example of before and after teeth whitening.

It creates a good first impression and gives you confidence. One of the ways to achieve a lovely smile is to have dazzling white teeth. Sadly, teeth tend to discolour over time, the most common reason being coffee, tea, cola, red wine and smoking. These can produce yellowish, old looking teeth.
These days, people often notice dark, yellowish teeth, so to change that dark look the process of professional teeth whitening is the answer. Confident smiles help take you smiling through life and having a set of beautiful white teeth is the key to that smile.

There are many ways to whiten teeth and to produce the bright beaming smile that you are wanting. Porcelain veneers, implants or composite bonding are just some of the methods, but the most effective and least invasive way to achieve white teeth is teeth bleaching, known as teeth whitening.
Teeth whitening is probably the commonest treatment within cosmetic or aesthetic dentistry. It is available as a procedure within the field of general dentistry and does not require a specialist dentist to carry it out. It does, however, require a qualified dental professional to do the procedure.
There are two types of teeth bleaching. The first, known as Power Whitening or Office Bleaching is carried out in the dental surgery or office by qualified dental personnel. We often use the famous Zoom system, but other systems may be offered. The gums and lips are carefully isolated from the teeth and a strong oxidizing agent is applied for 3 periods of about 15 minutes. This method usually produces fast and very effective results. There are very few side effects, but occasionally some people will experience some sensitivity afterwards for a short while. The common agents to be used are carbamide peroxide or hydrogen peroxide. |

The second method, known as home whitening or tray whitening, involves wearing custom made trays and applying a small amount of gel worn in the trays. Instructions are given about how long to wear the trays. To achieve good tooth whitening the system of trays and whitening gel is usually used for about two weeks, but sometimes longer is needed. This system is sometimes called take home bleaching. |

Many people are advised to have a combination of both methods. First, the Power Whitening and then to follow up with the Home whitening system, so they can keep their teeth pearly white from home. It’s great to plan to whiten your teeth before a special party, wedding or any special occasion. This is possible with the home care whitening kit.
Combining both methods will give a more lasting and successful result.
It is important to have a consultation before tooth whitening, as any cavities or decayed teeth may be best to be treated prior to whitening. The consultation also allows you the opportunity to discuss what you would like to do after your whitening procedure. It also allows discussion about options, any necessary risks and limitations.

Bleaching teeth is a great way to restore your smile, so professional whitening is the simplest way to achieve that. The results can last from between one to ten years , and this depends on how clean the teeth are kept and how much colour change comes from things like coffee, tea, cola and smoking.
