Is there anything that can help me with my fear of the dentist?

At Ringley Park we understand the fears and anxieties some patients may feel, especially when facing more complex treatment. We are happy to discuss any concerns and if necessary are able to offer stress free treatment under sedation. To ensure complete patient safety the administration of intravenous sedation is closely monitored by an experienced physician.

What is IV sedation?

This is where a medicine is given by an injection (usually in the back of your hand or in your arm) which helps to make you more relaxed and drowsy.

Is it safe?

With intravenous sedation you are technically still awake and your reflexes are still working. The medicine is designed to take away your anxiety and to give the impression that the procedure is finished very quickly.

How will it affect me?

IV sedation makes you drowsy and unaware of the treatment, but you are still able to co-operate with the dentist. The effects of the medication can take some time to wear off and therefore you will need to have a friend or relative to take you home afterwards.
