Invisible Braces
Read these questions now... how much do they relate to you?
- Do you wish your teeth could be straighter or just look better?
- Do you try to hide your smile sometimes out of embarrassment?
- Does the thought of wearing metal fixed braces, often called brackets and wires, or ‘train tracks’ fill you with horror?
- Do you wish you REALLY HAD worn those retainers you were given as a teenager after a previous course of orthodontics?
- Do you have a job where you meet the public frequently and need to smile with confidence?
- Do you feel your authority in your job is sometimes compromised by people silently noticing how crooked your teeth are?
- Do you want to get your teeth straightened and looking good for a big event ..a wedding for example?
- Do you want to finally sort your teeth out after years of dealing with your children’s teeth issues?
THEN INVISALIGN COULD BE THE ANSWER FOR YOU.

INVISALIGN....made up from the two words: - Invisible and Alignment is an amazing system of clear invisible braces that can align your teeth and allow you to continue your life and work without people knowing you are wearing braces.

They are produced by a modern CADCAM technique and use a custom designed series of thin clear aligners, or shields, that fit exactly over the teeth.
Each one uses a tiny amount of pressure to move the teeth very slowly and carefully into a new position, and ultimately to the planned final position. A complete set of aligners is made in the laboratory and these are changed every 2 weeks. However, you only need to see your dentist every 6 or 8 weeks for checking and occasional tiny adjustments. Many cases are finished in about 9 months, but as it is a fully custom driven system, this can be different from one individual to the next. Invisalign is able to help with quite complex orthodontic problems and is not confined to simple changes.
Always ensure that the dentist offering you Invisalign has the required qualification and accreditation from the ALIGN Technology Company.
It is also a huge advantage if the dentist has experience in offering other forms of orthodontics, not just Invisalign, as the dentist can then correctly guide you as to the best system for you.
Prior to starting with Invisalign, it is important that dental issues of broken teeth, decay or cavities are dealt with and a visit to the dentist can help plan any work required before starting to straighten your teeth with Aligners.
During treatment, the aligners must be removed for eating .This is a real bonus compared with wearing brackets and wires, which cannot be removed for eating.

It is important to keep the teeth very clean, so good oral hygiene, frequent flossing using floss or dental tape and regular visits to one of our hygienists would be encouraged.
INVISALIGN offers a number of different systems, all working with the same techniques, but with subtle differences. Talk to your dentist about these. For example INVISALIGN TEEN, designed for teenagers includes FREE replacements of up to 6 aligners if lost ..this takes a financial worry away from parents who are usually paying the bill for this age group!
The Invisalign system is not suitable for every orthodontic problem. If there are severe jaw discrepancies, or severe tempero- mandibular joint (TMJ) problems, often known as TMD or TMJD (Tempero-Mandibular Joint Dysfunction) then your dentist will discuss how these may be addressed , which may require a different approach.

Finally, remember there are many different types of orthodontics available, but not all will allow you to smile confidently without embarrassment throughout treatment. It is wonderful not to be conscious of smiling when you are undergoing treatment. Your smile should be automatic and natural, and this is what Invisalign is able to provide.
