Conscious RA sedation
Is there anything that can help me with my fear of the dentist?
At Ringley Park in Surrey we understand the fears and anxieties some patients may feel, especially when facing more complex treatment. We are happy to discuss any concerns and if necessary are able to offer stress free treatment under sedation.
Inhalation sedation (also known as laughing gas, relative analgesia, RA, happy gas, nitrous oxide) is another very pleasant form of sedation that can be used during dental treatment.
How does RA work?
The nitrous oxide/oxygen mixture is given by means of a nasal hood. This is a small mask that is placed over the nose for the patient to breathe.
How will I feel after inhalation sedation?
Once the treatment is stopped, the gas is eliminated from the body within three to five minutes. Therefore you should feel normal very quickly.
